Biography

BA in Painting by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and MA in Painting by the same institution. In his work Carlos Mensil explores the aesthetic and structural potentialities of materials outside their usual context in a territory of conceptual questioning. What we see are scenarios of apparent possibilities, or impossibilities.
His work is represented in various national and international public and private collections, such as the Galila Barzilaï -Hollander Collection (BE), the Donna Macmillan Collection (USA) or the Cerveira Biennial Foundation (PT), to name but a few. He is a co-founding member of the independent collective “CampaNice”. He lives and works in Porto, PT.
